Where can you find the Nissan VIN?

Every Nissan car has its own vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN can be found on the following locations:

  • On the driver’s side of the dashboard. You’ll find your Nissan VIN attached on a small metal plate at the top of your dashboard. Viewable from outside the car.

The fourth digit describes the engine type, the fifth digit is the model line, and the sixth digit is the model change number. The seventh digit identifies the body type, the eight digit is the restraint type, and the ninth digit is the check digit.

Vehicle Identifier Section (VIS)

The tenth digit indicates the model year, the eleventh digit is the assembly plant and the twelfth to seventeenth digits reveals the vehicle’s unique serial code.
